At Scheggino you can visit the archeological remains of the city wall and the 12th century castle, the San Nicola Church with frescos from Spain, the Valcasana springs which are truly an enchanting nature spot and much more…….
The town is only 10 minutes by car from Spoleto, about 20 minutes from Assisi, Terni, and Spello and 50 minutes from Perugia.
Within a few miles you visit the Clitunno springs, Trevi, Cascia, Norcia, the Piediluco Lake and Marmore Falls.

Scheggino, immersed in the panoramic breathtaking beauty of the Valnerina, is an ideal place to begin the discovery of the local historical medieval towns and the very old Valcastorian abbeys:
-Castel San Felice di Narco Abbey with a Romanesque church from the end of the 12th century (within 4 km / 2.4 miles).
-San Pietro in Valle Abbey with frescos from the 12th century from the Umbrian and Roman schools and fragments of Roman sarcophagi (within 6 km / 3.7 miles)
-Santo Eutizio Abbey near Preci which dates back to the year 1190 (within 25 km / 15.5 miles)

The local restaurants are excellent and you can taste the exquisite Fario trout from the Nera river, shrimps and tasty dishes based on truffles, a true local gastronomical specialty.

-Tartufando (literally “Looking for Truffles”) a market and exhibition-fair dedicated to showcasing typical local products, in the first week of June.
-La Festa Della Donne (“Women’s Day”) historical commemoration of the defense of the Scheggino castle by women in 1522, held in the last weekend of July.
-La Sagra della Trota (Trout Festival) held within the first fifteen days of August.

The natural beauty of the place offers visitors the occasion to give free rein to their creativity such as: painting along the course of the river or in the streets of the town. Or by learning the techniques of the ancient arts of “decoupage” and “stencil” which the lady of the house teaches to anyone who desires to learn by offering short full-immersion courses.
Six hour “decoupage” or “stencil” course: EURO 80 (all materials included)
